How to Place a Service by Mail Order

To place a Service by Mail Order, navigate to the Rapid Legal portal, enter your email and password, then click on Login.

1. Once you are logged into the customer portal, click on Place an Order.

2. In the field labeled What would you like us to do?, select Process Serving.

3. Enter the name of the Party to Serve, select Capacity, and enter the name of the Registered Agent (if known).

Enter the Business Name or Address where the documents are to be served, then select the address Type.

IMPORTANT: In the Special Instructions field enter: Please Serve Party By Mail

If you would like Rapid Legal to advance witness fees, select “Yes”.

If you would like to file or notarize the Proof of Service (Affidavit of Service,) check the File or Notarize box of the Proof section (additional charges apply.)

4. Enter the Case Number, select the Jurisdiction where the documents were filed, and select the Attorney of Record.

 

Click on “Next”.

Next, you’ll need to enter the case participants such as the Plaintiff and Defendant.

 

Click on the “Add Party(s)” button.

Click on “Next”.

 

5. On the Documents tab, you’ll see three options for submitting the documentation required to complete your Process Serve order. Here is how each option works:
  • Upload – Upload document(s) directly from your computer.
  • Fax – Provide a list of document(s) to be faxed separately.
  • Existing Documents – Select previously uploaded document(s) from an existing case.

To upload documents, enter the title of the document you want to upload in the Document Title field and click the Attach File… button to upload your document(s).

 

Note: As you enter information in the Document Title field, titles that match the data you enter will be displayed automatically. You may select from the list provided or enter your Document Title manually.

We recommend that you upload each document individually. Repeat this process as many times as necessary until all your documents are uploaded (e.g., summons, complaint, civil case cover sheet, proof of service, etc.). 

 

If you select the Fax option, enter the title of the document you will fax in the Document Title field. Please estimate the total number of document pages that will be included in your fax transmission.  

 

6. Verify that the address to be attempted is correct.

Click “Next”.

 

7. For the serve attempt, select the Standard Option. The Rapid Legal Operations Team will adjust the order to be a Service by Mail once you submit the order.

8. Submit the Order
